Understanding MBRS 2.0 in Malaysia: Compliance & Best Practices

The Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (“SSM”) is rolling out MBRS2.0 for regulatory filings in phases:

  • Phase 1 (1 Dec, 2024): Annual returns, unaudited financial statements, and financial statements for exempt private companies under the Companies Act 2016
  • Phase 2 (1 Mar, 2025): Annual returns and financial statements under the Companies Act 1965, and filings for foreign companies
  • Phase 3 (1 June, 2025): Audited financial statements

With MBRS2.0, companies are required to convert their financial statements into eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format for regulatory filings. This shift to digital reporting streamlines submission processes, reduces the risk of errors and delays, and improves the accuracy of financial data.

To help businesses in Malaysia navigate these regulatory changes, our financial reporting experts hosted this webinar to provide practical guidance on MBRS 2.0 compliance.

Webinar highlights:

  • MBRS 2.0 Overview: Key developments and compliance requirements in MBRS
  • XBRL Compliance Best Practices: Practical insights from our financial reporting experts, who have been handling XBRL compliance for clients
  • Three-Step Approach to MBRS 2.0 Compliance: Our structured approach to help businesses transition effectively
